A feel of autumn in Tokyo

There is not an ounce of evidence to suggest that the famous maple leaves (momiji) is visiting Tokyo soon. Leaves on trees stay as green as ever struggling to last even a single day longer.

Tokyo is not missing out anything because there is not a sign of momiji yet.
The smell of autumn is everywhere.

Seasonal foods like pacific saury, my favorite of all time, Japanese fried oyster, Matsutake(mushrooms), apples, Japanese pears and many many other foods are at their most juicy, most delicious d(^-^d)

The sky has fluffy autumn clouds as its companion.
Autumn is normally blessed with fine, dry weather that gets cooler with each passing days. But before this, there is the ordeal of the typhoons to go through as they en-route to Japan (;~__~)…
Don’t be shock. That is just part of autumn…

Train stations put up colorful & fanciful posters and huge amounts of pamphlets with maple leaves as themes… A strategy inviting people to travel.

Enjoy checking these pamphlets, that cover details from famous foods to hotspring hotels & sightseeing spots. They offer packages for luxurious Japanese hotspring (onsen) and the traditional multi-course Japanese dinner, kaiseki-ryori that comes with train tickets set.

Though I love checking them, there is always a mixed feelings on how wasted with the disposal fate awaiting them, when the season comes to an end.

Putting that aside, I could do with a short trip to pamper myself for the time being I guess (*-”-)

Halloween costumes styles (ViVi)

Does it sound unbelievable that Japan is actually celebrating Halloween? In some ways, Japan is more westernized than one can imagine.

Just a month or more before Halloween, lots of shops started selling Halloween decorations. Pumpkins in all sorts of design have become part of the common items. And Cosplay & Halloween costumes shopping sites struggled to cope with flooding orders for Halloween parties.

It might be a little too late for Halloween ideas, but I just noticed this article featuring Halloween costumes coordinates created by ViVi. They looked so fun and silly.

For those who are still are looking for crazy costumes ideas for Halloween.

Unique mischievous Halloween styles idea

  • 1. Meet the new mouse girl with mouse cap, fur coat paired with silver leggings. On my! I still want my sweetie Minnie mouse. (- -#)
  • 2. Even the American Indians are going to give nods and thumbs up on this native costume for sure.
  • 3. The Japanese’s outrageously fun and sexy diner girl’s costume. An apron tied to the waist of a long shirt, buttoned down to reveal bikini in AMERICAN FLAG design. This gets equally funky d(^o^)b
And don’t forget about the roller skates!

Sweet, girlish Halloween styles

  • 4. All reds & polka dots, the ever-popular cute ladybug costume. Not too much surprise though…
  • 5. Wow! The cursed dead bride returned as a zombie to roam the streets
    (OoO ;;)
  • 6. The flirty, sexy courtesan. How Japanese style clothing blends in amazingly at ease with Europe’s originated Halloween (*^m^*)

ViVi magazine’s models

A brief look on ViVi magazine’s models.
Having spent quite an amount of time trimming clips of ViVi magazine, I always have the impression that ViVi had at most 6~7 models running in full rotation and they are tall and mainly of mixed race models.

But, after flipping through this month’s special section on “ViVi model’s beauty secrets”, it came as a surprised that I have been imagining something different all this while (- – #)

For one thing ViVi has a team of currently, 13 models working to sell its brand.
Ages and height varies widely among the models.
And they aren’t all mixed races…

Japan’s autumn nail trend (ViVi)

Wondering what is the trend for Japan’s autumn’s nail art?
These are some nail designs picked out from ViVi magazine.
ViVi grouped these nail designs into “Gothic Theme” & “British Theme”.

In Gothic theme, we see trend in cold pastel colors, gemstones & pearls embellished for the elegant or modern antique impression. For some fun, skulls wearing ribbons joined in the nails too.

In British theme, we see standard union jack, brilliant use of various kinds of plaid prints and the occasional use of tiny studs. British’s royal guards & royal crown, some symbols of Britain are not forgotten too.
Get a feel of UK without actually visiting it with these nails (@^_^@)b

These cute & interesting nail patterns are bound to brighten up lonely autumn ahead

Halloween’s makeup idea / kyarypamyupamyu

Model and singer kyarypamyupamyu’s has always drawn lots of attention for her unique and extreme personal style in fashion. Her hairstyles and makeup is always interesting in my opinion.

Since halloween is round the corner, I will pickup some of Kyary’s extreme fashion that might give you some ideas on halloween costumes and makeups. So be my guest if you run out of one, except they aren’t those creepy ones.

Makeup illustrating a big and crooked mouth. And the teeth… don’t they look like those from jaws?

Pop-up hot dog toaster — Cross-cultural

America company came up with the two-in-one, “Hot Dog Toaster” that allows hot dog and bun to be toasted at the same time.

Just drop two hotdogs and buns into the toaster and waits for it to pop up, simple as that. No messy cleaning after hot dog makings. And you don’t have to know how to cook to be able use it. It has been a hit with Americans after its release.

Now, will Japan enjoy the same great response as well? (-C-)…
Well, it is not the habit of Japanese to have hot dogs for breakfast or even meals.
So my bet will be that there won’t be much demands here.
But there will still be Japanese who wants one because of the cute retro design and reasonable price. To use the toaster or not is another matter… (*’-v-)?

I find the habit and cultural difference between countries extremely interesting. And it amuse me how a new product could be born because of a country & its people’s habits.

※ You can get this hot dog toaster at Amazon.com at the price of $19.

Marukome / Miso soup dispenser

The MISO soup dispenser (*o*)/
The Japanese has a new dispenser to add to their list besides beverage dispenser machines.

Miso maker, “Marukome”, came up with the new type miso soup dispenser. The latest one is more of a mini version. “Small and stylish” is the concept which was designed with office use in mind.

And what’s more, it allows a generous four types of ingredient toppings!! Toppings containing collagen is expected to enjoy popularity with women and the one containing corbicula will be the popular choice for men.

Japanese’s love for MISO soup is understandable. Lunch set that comes with rice and miso soup is Japanese food culture. Sipping a bowl of hot miso soup during the cold winter is another “tasty” experience, I would say (^_-)

Doesn’t it sound cool to own a dispenser? And the price of miso dispenser is reasonably cool too! You get to bring this home for just 3,480yen (machine only).

Netizens agreed that the dispenser is cheap, but there are voices that the maintenance is going to be a tough one (^^;;)
