Famous anime Gundam turns food

The anime gundam and dofu maker collaborated to release dofu anime which started selling from 28th-March for a limited period. Animes making their way into the realistic world \(◎o◎)/

The work is known as “zaku doufu”, taking the head portion motif of character “zaku”, that appears in the anime Gundam. The response was so overwhelming that the dofu were completely sold out in many shops since its release.

“Zaku dofu” costs about 200yen per pack for 200grams. It is selling in most convenience stores and supermarkets in Kanto areas.
I shall try to get one after everybody got tired of it (^ _*).

The packaging of zaku dofu. The packaging image is completely different from traditional dofu.

The vivid green color container certainly looks close to the anime zaku. And amazing! They did not forget to add in the red EYEBALLS!
At a glance, I thought it looks more like an UFO to me. It looks more like a helmet now after closer observations m(_ _)m

Green color is the theme and here it is, the dofu is green in color too. And yes, the shape remains intact too! Wow, Cool! The taste is green soya and surely it looks delicious enough.

The smell of spring

March in Japan, is the graduation season as well as the famous once in a year cherry blossom season. This is unfounded, but I would like to think that the cherry blossom season is meant to be a celebration for graduates who are embarking on a new journey.

As a member of the “working society”, cherry blossom has no special meaning for me. But, when I recall how beautiful last year’s SAKURA were, I begin to look forward to seeing it again. Sounds contradicting right?
Its getting warmer and closer to spring. SAKURA in Tokyo will bloom soon. It fills me with excitement to even think about it. *No, I am not a child*

No, not everyone could enjoy this season though. Lots of Japanese have hay fever due to allergy to cedar pollen and this season just make them feel terrible. You can see most of them with mask all the time.

Sakura’s bud is telling us that we shall be expecting cherry blossom soon. *HURRAY*

Where it gets a lot of sun, a single SAKURA tree can’t wait to start flowering. Poor thing, it looks so out of place…

Graphic pen tablet – Wrist pain relief measure

My job requires me to work like mad, spending long hours in front of the computer, resulting in the high risk of overusing my hands. Recently, my fingers started feeling numb and extremely tired when I am operating the mouse. Before I spoil my hand completely, I thought I should do something to limit mouse operation as much possible. Tablet was the first thing that come to my mind hoping it could replace the mouse. And anyway, it doesn’t cost much, I could always return back to the mouse if the idea doesn’t work.

For the past 3 days, I focused on the tablet. I couldn’t be more than satisfied with the result. It took me just a mere few hours to get used to the operation. Moreover, I feel it really lightens the burden that builds up due to repeated clicking action of the mouse. It didn’t 100% solve the tiredness of the wrist, but in some way, it helps lessen that.

Investing in a tablet is worth after all in my opinion.
I really recommend the tablet for those whom like me, need to work long hours in front of the computer with lots of wrist operation. d(^o^)b

If you are interested to know, the tablet that I had bought is Wacom Bamboo Connect.
Good Luck (^_-)

Japanese fashion magazines

When I popped down to the bookstore to grab my monthly fashion magazine, what caught my eyes were the freebies that come with many of the popular magazines (mostly the May issues). They mainly contain sweet pouches or tote bags that look cute and handy enough for daily use.

After fighting down the temptations with other magazines (or rather the free goodies?), I finally got settled with the usual one that I have been supporting all along.

For those who are keen on what free goodies come with these magazines, I picked up a few. Interested parties can inquire through the button below.

dekopon (sumo tangerine)

You can see this fruit that looks like a tangerine, in any supermarket in Japan at this season. “Dekopon”, as this fruit is known as, is a citrus fruit, originally Made In Japan through cross-breeding. Cool right?

Maybe the photo which I had taken can’t tell much (try googling “dekopon” if not) , it has a very obvious “ugly” bump on the top.

My first brush with dekopon has been a very idiot one (^~^;)
Imagine! I mixed it up with missile name, “tepodon”! That’s the problem with Japanese language for foreigners. I still think they sound alike after all…

In contrary to its rough appearance, dekopon is actually almost seedless and awesomely sweet and juicy d(^o^)b

The success of cross-breeding doesn’t occur overnight.
I hope that the world can have a taste of the delicious dekopon created through the hands of Japanese people.

Cute construction barricades

The kawaii culture extended to the construction work sites.

“Mum, look! Giraffes”, the yelling from excited children could be heard from far.
No doubt, children enjoy these animals barricades.

March 11 Japan earthquake (Tōhoku)

Was it a year ago? The big earthquake which amounted to a near 20 thousand deaths and people missing.

On that day, the seismograph registered an intensity 5 even in Tokyo. For the first time, I experienced such strong quake. I could recall that the building was swaying so much that I wouldn’t be surprised if it came tumbling down.

Though what I had experienced was nothing compared to people in Tohoku (Northeast) & Fukushima who lost their family members and homes due to the tusnami, the impact was so big that I could vividly remember until now.

Today, Japan’s TV host special program about 3.11. I was made to recall once again how powerless humans are towards earthquakes and tsunami, when painful images of the day were played.

I recalled Jupiter, a song by Ayaka Hirahara.
It was originally released in year 2003, but there was an increased dedication request recently, after the earthquake. It was said that this song somehow bring hopes to lots of people.

Amulet

Japanese amulet, a gift from a friend who visited a shrine in kagawa prefecture. Do you know that every shrine in Japan has their own amulet design? You won’t be able to find two exactly same design amulets in different shrines.

“Character amulets” even have names. This one is known as “Cheerful smile”. He was designed base on the image of children who is known for their pureness and innocence. Sweet as his name is, he is believed to bring happiness to his owner.

Wish that the happiness stretches on though the time span for amulet is a year only.
Thank you, my dear friend for your souvenir.

Next generation vending machine

This new generation intelligent beverage vending machine has been the talk of the town since its release last year end.

I had my first encounter with it within the train station itself. To my amazement, the machine’s size is big! Not only is the display liquid crystal of supreme high quality, its touch screen operation and also equipped with innovative functions. In short, high-tech and images are crystal clear.

Firstly, I did a little observing on the machine from some distance away. When nobody was around, the machine will auto display beverages which it “analysed” best suits the temperature and time.

Next, I went a bit closer to the machine (within sensor boundary). The screen automatically switched to show the list of available beverages. Is it my imagination that all beverages look delicious?

Then I proceeded to position myself right in front of the machine. And know what? The machine tried to recommend drinks that it thought best suited me, by displaying “For you” indications besides some of the beverages.
According to information by maker, this machine actually made recommendations after analyzing customer’s age, gender, time and temperature during purchase. Wow, cool! Doesn’t it sound superb to have a machine estimating your age? They probably count wrinkles, blemishes…

And what you had chosen will be shown large on the screen. After confirming the price and item, pay and that’s it. You still have the option to cancel this transaction! Isn’t it convenient?
